Kandersteg is a small village in the Bernese Oberland (4000 feet). It has 75km (46 miles) of prepared cross-country ski trails plus winter hiking.
Downhill skiing is also available in the surrounding mountains in which this picturesque village is set. There are two ski lifts; one to the Oeschinensee and the other to the Sunnenbuel-Gemmi pass.
There is a weekly programme of events in the village, which features an ice rink, with three curling rinks, horse riding, horse sleigh rides, mini golf, paragliding sledging, which is illuminated at night. There is an outdoor swimming pool in Kandersteg and an outdoor one in the neighbouring village of Frutigen.
